ORISHA WORLDWIDE / ORISHA LABS
What did they know?
And, more importantly: what can we do with that knowledge now?
Orisha Labs is where our curiosity gets serious.
We work with artists, researchers, cultural practitioners, designers, technologists and other obsessive people to study indigenous African knowledge and experiment with where it might lead.
Sometimes that becomes research. Sometimes an artwork. Sometimes software. Sometimes an object.
Sometimes we find an interesting question and spend months making the question even better.
The Lab is not interested in proving that ancient Africans secretly invented every modern technology. That argument is boring.
We are more interested in asking whether modern life has something to learn from systems it was trained to dismiss.

Futures.
What might African life look like if our indigenous knowledge systems had been allowed to keep evolving?
That question started as an exhibition. It has become much bigger.
